Wordle

Wordle is another Web 2.0 Tool that can be used in conjunction with a blog.  Wordle is an application that allows users to enter text (into a textbox) and create a word cloud with one click.  These word clouds are also called tag clouds because the program tags words that are used repeatedly; the more a word is used, the bigger it is in the word cloud.

Q:  So how is this useful in the classroom?

A:  Wordles are applicable across the curriculum and support the use of subject specific vocabulary.  Students are able to generate their own meaning of a concept by listing numerous ideas or words that support it.  Wordles are a great starting point of open discussions; it is an expression of understanding.
